History on High

History on High – the Shop opened its doors in October of 2008 in the former Odd Fellows building a part of which had been renovated just for the Society’s museum store. The museum store had previously been in what is now a small office in the main CCHS building behind the reception area.

A light filled, inviting space, our shop caters to locals and visitors alike. We follow our mission to promote Cumberland County history by having books, paintings, carvings, pottery, fiber art and weavings, local soups and spices and note cards and post cards available to our customers. We celebrate our talented vendors by hosting book signings and art demonstrations throughout the year. History on High holds classes several times a year where many ambitious people of all ages get together and create a variety of felted wool creatures.

On Saturday, April 8th, Paul D. Hoch will be available from 11 am to 2 pm to autograph his newest book, Carlisle Car Shows Collectors, Cars & Their Stories. We published this book completely in-house, and are thankful for all who helped to create it. Creating a book is definitely a group effort!

Soon, we will have a new pewter ornament, made in the United States that represents Molly Pitcher. Watch for an e-blast!
