2024 marked the 90th anniversary of the discovery of three young girls’ bodies along Rt. 233 in Penn Township in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. This book revisits the story and shares additional information that has been discovered since “The Babes in the Woods Story” was published by the Cumberland County Historical Society.
Subsequent to publishing the book, it was learned in 2017 that some Pennsylvania State Police records about the case had been stored at the Pennsylvania State Police Training School, now known as Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey, Pennsylvania. More than 260 pages of documentation, in addition to photos, a set of 5 death masks and other items collected during the investigation were preserved at the Academy Museum. This book is a summary of what is included in that collection. It provides extensive detail about the State Police investigation that was conducted in 1934 and 1935.
