1902 Carlisle Indian School Catalog

Price: $18.00

Description

This is a facsimile reproduction of a catalog originally printed in 1902 for the Carlisle Indian Industrial School. It includes a short history of the school and the town and school demographic information, pictures of arriving students, students during classroom and extracurricular activities, the buildings on campus, farmwork, athletics and various industrial instructions.  Classroom photographs are broken up by year, and industrial images by activity.  The catalog closes with a description of each industrial department, as well as the course of study through ten years at the school.  A record of living graduates is also included. Though not credited in the catalogue, Frances Benjamin Johnston was responsible for much of the photography, and many of her original photographs can be found at the Library of Congress.
