On Saturday, April 8th, Paul D. Hoch will be available from 11 am to 2 pm to autograph his newest book, Carlisle Car Shows Collectors, Cars & Their Stories. We published this book completely in-house, and are thankful for all who helped to create it. Creating a book is definitely a group effort!
Barbara Landis will give a PowerPoint presentation of a virtual tour of the Carlisle Indian Industrial School. This tour is designed to prepare visitors for self-guided tours of the old school grounds. The school closed in 1918 however; many of the actual buildings are still standing and are registered as a National Historic Landmark.
Textile Conservator Carol Reed will discuss various treatments she has done in the past 20 years. She will explain how each treatment requires an individual approach and poses its own set of problems. Treatments to be discussed include objects from the Historical Society’s Collection, replacing areas of loss, carriage upholstery and more.
