Daniel Drawbaugh

Charles will present a lecture on inventor Daniel Drawbaugh. Charles is a great-grandson of Drawbaugh’s sister and grew up hearing the story: “Uncle Dan was done in by a cruel and corrupt world and thus deprived of his rights as the true inventor of the telephone.” Mr. Stone will review the historical record as well as the considerable local oral tradition and then perhaps ponder why great leaps in technology are almost always engulfed in controversy. A tour of the Society’s Drawbaugh collection will conclude the program.
