MG-005: The Nellie C. Cornman Collection contains a variety of materials on a variety of local organizations. A large portion of the collection deals with the Daughters of the American Revolution. This organization emphasized Americanism and conservation of natural resources. They also provided aid for students attending approved schools. Nellie Cornman was also a member of the Young Women’s Christian Association and the Carlisle Garden Club and so her collection provides information on both of these organizations. The daughter of Anna Bretz and William Cornman, Nellie Cornman’s collection contains personal correspondence including letters to her mother. This collection also reveals her interest in music and religion with many newspaper clippings of prayers or other religious material.
