CCHS COVID-19 Yellow Phase Announcement

Message from the Acting Executive Director:

We are working diligently on plans for a safe and phased approach to reopening.

Our administrative team has been monitoring federal, state, local, and health/medical recommendations, guidelines, and orders to ensure that our plans incorporate best practices as these continue to evolve.

The staff will return to work on May 26, although those who can work from home will continue to do so.  Staff can be reached by email or at the Society’s phone number, 717-249-7610.

During this time, the shop will be open for curb-side pickup.  Contact Kim Laidler for more information.

Our virtual programming will continue during the Yellow Phase including, live 10-Minute History Talks starting on June 4th; a lecture by Jessica Sheets on Family Discords during the Revolutionary War on June 11th; a virtual History & Hops on June 25th; and continued engagement via our History at Home webpage and social media. Please visit our website – https://www.historicalsociety.com/events/ – to learn more.

Balancing safety with the needs of our members and the public is critically important. We know that even though many of our patrons are able to take advantage of our online resources, there are vital services we can only provide in our physical building. Therefore, we will continue to assess and adapt with the goal of moving to limited public access when Cumberland County moves to the Green Phase when our buildings can reopen, as quickly and responsibly as possible.

Thank you for your patience as we move through this process.

Watch for more details and updates in the coming weeks.

David Smith
Acting Executive Director
