The Cumberland County Historical Society Photograph Collection was started in 1901 by several of the Society’s founders who were photographers. Our collection is unusually large for a local historical society and contains images that are of interest far beyond the county’s borders. Our photographs have been used by patrons from all over the world and in a variety of ways, including historical research, family histories, building restorations, interior decorating, publications, PowerPoint presentations, websites, films, videos, and television programs.Family members, organizations, researchers and businesses often find photos of interest.CCHS uses its collection in-house for our Heritage Series of books, the annual Cumberland County History journal, and in museum exhibits.Public exposure to the collection is featured weekly in a local newspaper feature entitled “Tour Through Time.”
