Ms. Shaw has a very eclectic interest in art mediums. She enjoys woodcarving, painting, pet portraits as well as sculpting with felted wool and paper mache. Animals are her favorite subjects. She loves to capture beloved pets on canvas or sculpt more wild subjects, such as wolves, foxes and other woodland and wild creatures. Often her interests take on a whimsical note, like carousel beasts, dragons and fairies. Her most famous subject was Millie Bush – a Springer Spaniel that lived in the elder George Bush’s White House. Bonnie did a carving of the famous dog and got a big “thank you” from George and Barbara Bush. Her work has traveled all over the world, and is on display in various countries and continents such as Sweden, England, Russia and Australia.
