Remembering Emmett Till with The Nation Magazine’s Dan Wakefield

October 29, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Best selling author and journalist, Dan Wakefield, will lead a discussion about race and justice at Todd Hall, 21 North Pitt Street in Carlisle. Wakefield – a 23 year old cub reporter for the Nation Magazine – covered the 1955 murder trial of Roy Bryant and J. W. Milam. Two white men charged with brutally killing 14 year old Emmett Till, wrapping barbed wire around his throat, fastening him to a cotton gin fan and throwing him into the Tallahatchie River.
Discussion is hosted by Cumberland Valley Rising, Greater Carlisle Project, Carlisle Hope Station, and the Charles Bruce Foundation.
