Founded in 1874, the Society is one of the country's oldest historical societies. Dedicated to preserving and interpreting county history, the Society maintains a library and a museum on Pitt Street and the Two Mile House on the Walnut Bottom Road in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The continued growth and development of the Historical Society depends on active participation of many people who share an interest in the rich heritage of Cumberland County. Please join today and help to give our past a future.

Membership is open to anyone interested in Cumberland county history. The Society is a private nonprofit organization deriving its support from the communities it serves.
