Camp Michaux Self-Guided Walking Tour

Camp Michaux in Cooke Township has a history beginning in the late 1700s as a farm associated with the iron industry.  In 1933, the site became the first Civilian Conservation Corps in Pennsylvania operated on State land.  In 1943, the U.S. Army used the camp as a secret interrogation camp for German and Japanese prisoners of war, one of only three such sites in the country.  After WWII, the facility was operated by Camp Michaux, Inc. as a youth summer camp.  Follow the link to learn more about preservation efforts at the former camp and for a self-guided walking tour guide.
